With the introduction of the innovative “Elephant”, Wunderlich has completely revamped the entire concept of the motorcycle tank bag. The BMW specialists from Sinzig, Germany have not only re-engineered their tank-top luggage solution, the method of attachment to the vehicle is carried out in an entirely new manner. A model specific base plate is quickly and easily installed the motorcycle, to which the “Elephant” by means of a quick connect system is then attached. The system allows for a quick attachment or removal of the tank bag and easy refueling, even while wearing gloves. The base plate is available for many BMW models, so for those who own more than one BMW, it’s now possible to own just one tank bag and seamlessly move it from one bike to the other.

The “Elephant” itself is made of a high strength, abrasion and water resistant, Teflon coated CORDURA weave material that is also highly resistant to fading. The bag is expandable from 15 liters to 25 liters and it features two large side pouches, so there is lots of room for gear inside. The oversized map pouch is both removable and reversible. Another clever feature is that a spare helmet visor can be stored in an integrated pouch inside the tank bag, so that all available space can be effectively utilized.

Shock cords on the top of the bag allow for a convenient spot to secure a pair of gloves, a hat or similar items. Many other trend setting ideas have been incorporated into this highly functional tank bag: detachable shoulder straps, a pass-through for electrical cables and a carrying handle to name just a few. Optional accessories include a rain cover, and organizer and a cooler pack.

In addition to black, the “Elephant” is also available in the “Safety” version, with signal yellow and reflective side panels. For some models, a matching rear seat bag is also available.

The Elephant is Made in Germany with some components made in other European countries. The price for the tank bag is $264.00 and each model specific base plate sells for $75.00.
