If you work on metric machinery, which you most likely do since you are reading this, you'll probably appreciate the need for a set of metric punches. Most commonly available punches are in fractional inch sizes and while close in many cases, they are way off in many others. For knocking out metric roll pins or for example brake pad retaining pins, having the right size can allow you do a cleaner job without mushrooming the pin because you used a punch that was "close enough".
