License Plate Holder

This license plate holder replaces the rather ugly looking original plate holder with reflectors. Though the reflectors were placed there to meet DOT standards and do arguably offer some level of passive safety, the appearance is not to everyone’s liking. You could saw the reflectors off of your existing bracket but it’s a hassle, especially to do a clean job. This part simply replaces the original and it is a clean, straight forward part that does one thing: attaches your license plate to your bike. Black powder coated steel.

This part is also what we recommend when installing our rear fender extenders and also any of our Legere plate holders. Perfect for custom applications too!

Please Note: The holes for mounting this part to the bike are 70mm (2-3/4") on center. This will match the original holes of nearly all BMWs however on certain models, it may be necessary to drill holes or elongate the existing holes to attach this part. If you would prefer not to make any such modifications to your bike, you may want to measure the spacing of the mounting bolts on your bike before ordering. This can usually be done underneath the rear fender without disassembling anything.

Doesn't fit F800GS

Nice Clean Look

Reviewed by Rich A. from Madison, CT (10.5.2012) I was looking for something very low profile to replace the OEM bracket on my K1300S. Did not like the look of the reflectors and bulky plastic piece. This is a nice, low profile replacement that was a snap to install. Since you have to remove the license plate light, it is necessary to knock out a plastic cover under the tail light on the K, to get some light on the plate.

License tag holder alternative

Reviewed by Dawn from Baltimore, MD (6.24.2012) I brought this license plate holder to replace my original holder because I just got some new SW-Motech Trax Evo quick release side cases for my F650CS and the way the original tag holder is made, it either needed to be modified or replaced due to it being in the way of a mounting bracket. The tag cross bar bracket and the way the racks sit, the original tag holder had to be replaced in order for the cross bar to be secured. I got two reflector tag holding screws to mount my tag to this plate holder. It works great.
