These handlebars will fit the K1200 R, K1300 R and K1300 S. The seating position on these bikes can be quite crowded, even an average size rider has to practically bend double to get into the posture demanded by the original handlebar. We have developed this riser set to bring the handlebar into a comfortable and ergonomic position. The set attaches to the mounting tubes of the original handlebars, this allows for adjustment of the risers along the axis of the tube. This helps the rider to fine tune the handle bar position to his individual preferences.

The bars are raised by about 90 mm (~3.5”), and the overall width of the handlebars is increased by 20 mm (0.8”). This improves the comfort, but also has the benefit of easier steering and better handling.

This ergonomic set offers the winning combination of the original handlebar concept coupled with a relatively straight forward installation. Complete kit comprises solid CNC machined tube handlebar mounts and new aluminum handlebar halves. The set features hydraulic line connection fittings that allow the continued use of the original clutch and brake lines. The original lines are simply connected to one side of the connector and the supplied stainless lines are attached to the other, providing the required extra length without the need to disassemble the bodywork, which would be required to replace the entire brake or clutch line.

Please see the installation instructions and also the More Views tab for additional information and images.

Important Note: When installing these bars on the R models the original throttle cable is too short in most cases. Due to slight production variances, it may not be necessary to replace it. To be sure, we suggest ordering the proper throttle cable along with the bar conversion and if it's not needed, you can always return it for a refund. The throttle cables are available under the Related Products tab.

K1200 R and K1200 R Sport require throttle cable part number 8410120

K1300 R requires throttle cable (set) part number 8601329.

K1300 S does not require a throttle cable replacement.

See the additional information link above for throttle cable replacement instructions.

Love the bars hate the hoses

Reviewed by TOM BURNS from SIMI VALLEY, CA. (9.2.2012)

I shopped around for this solution to sore wrists and neck on long rides.. I preferred the look of verholen's but these seemed sturdier and I still believe this to be true.. They put me in a totaly different riding position which works perfect for me, (5'9")..The reason I only gave it 4 stars is the piggy-back hoses. When installed as per instructions they would "kink" If they were about 1" longer, probably would not kink. If one end of each hose had a 90 degree bend, would have been ideal.. I wound up spending another $95 on custom hoses (3" longer than stock). worked perfect and no piggy-back hoses looks much better anyways. One of the biggest reasons I went with these is Wunderlich's reputation and I have purchased other accessories from them and had no problems.I have the mra touring windscreen and it does limit adjustment some. The hoses might have worked perfectly with a stock windscreen but I didn't want to give up the higher wind deflection.. aggressive cornering takes a little more effort but I found that bending forward gives me the same solid, planted feel of the front end that the stock bars did..

2011 K1300S

Reviewed by Carl McAloose from Orwigsburg, PA (11.21.2011)

Highly recommend for those looking for a more relaxed, less sport-riding position on the K! I tried the Helibars first, but still not to my liking. Went with these bars and they are exactly what I was looking for and needing to make this bike, for me, an all-day rider. Had the dealer install without a problem and without a need for additional cable work. All stock cables work without a problem. I combined these with a Russell Day-Long seat...outstanding!

Highly recommended

Reviewed by R. Collins from Alexandria, VA (8.31.2011)

I had the the local BMW stealer put these on...installation cost ~$400. They make a huge difference for long distance riding. I did about a 1000 mile ride over a few days. There's no way I could have riden that far without these installed on my bike. As far as the styling goes, most people don't even notice there are risers on the bike, they blend so well with the K1300S. Fit and finish is excellent, the attention to detail is what sets these risers apart. Tip: When installing the bars into the risers the bars could become marred slighty due to the tight fit. Invert the screws on the risers and place a small washer inside the gap. Now using the inverted screw, tighten down the screw a little to pry the opening slightly to allow the bars to slide in smoothly. The dealer installed my risers incorrectly, make sure the electrical cables are ran behind the risers/triple tree.

No more numb hands

It took me about 3 hours to get this installed. I was taking my sweet time & had to go purchase tork tools. All in all, very pleased with the high bar. The brake/clutch bleeding instructions NOT included. Had to research www.

Feels great

Reviewed by A.J. Jensen from San Jose, CA (3.28.2011)

Had this ergo bar kit installed on my 2007 K1200R Sport. Very adjustable so easily found a great feeling spot that gave relief for my back and neck. I already had their higher windshield installed. If you don't have it you will likely want that too. Unexpected perk was extra leg room due to sitting about an inch further back on the stock seat now.
