Steering Stops

The original steering stops are a very weak construction. A raised aluminum boss on the underside of the upper triple clamp contacts a corresponding portion of the aluminum upper frame. If your bike falls over, it might fall onto the handlebar and if it does, all of the force generated by the falling weight of the bike will typically sheer off one or both of these aluminum parts. More often than not, this results not only in the destruction of some very expensive structural components but the handlebar switch can then also smash into the fuel tank, causing damage to both the tank and the switch. If the bike falls on the right side, the brake line can also become damaged. This can be a huge source of aggravation, especially when you are miles away from nowhere!

Our new steering stop design provides a strong, additional point of contact and takes the strain off the original steering stop. Here‘s how it works: The bumpers bolt onto the lower fork bridge pinch bolts and contact the Telelever just before the stock steering stop would make contact. This softens the blow, and, as the rubber bumper compresses, it progressively becomes a solid stop for the forks. With this part installed, the steering stop will fare better than your pride in the event of a spill. The steering stops are machined from solid high quality, silver anodized aluminum alloy. Rather than attach a bulky, heavy part to the Telelever that makes contact with the fork slider, our approach is a lightweight, unobtrusive and hardly noticeable part, that attaches to the lower fork bridge and makes contact with the Telelever. The part does not restrict the steering range. Sold as a complete set of left and right side stops, complete with all fittings and easy installation instructions
