Urban Tank Bag

Reviewed by Rafa from , VA (9.27.2012)

The bag fits nicely on the R12R tank. It has a single large compartment that ends up being a big catch all for my water bottle, phone, gloves, etc. No issues with wind turbulence, and it flips easily toward the seat to refuel. The bag did not come with installation instructions, but after a little google research and looking at pictures, I was able to figure out how to install it.

Very Good Bag

Reviewed by Max from Granite Bay, CA (1.15.2012)

I installed this on a 2012 RT. I like the fit and the size. I also liked the way the map pocked is integrated into the lid instead of being a separate piece. The internal face shield pocket is a nice feature. One note of caution; the front two mounting screws supplied with the bag are soft and easily stripped. I replaced them with black screws with a 25Torx socket I purchased at Ace Hardware.

Nice design and great service

Reviewed by Bob from New York, NY (1.14.2012)

I ordered the Urban Tour for my new R1200GS. I wanted something small and conservative looking. I returned it for two reasons. First, after setting it on my tank I realized that I just don't appreciate having a bag sit on the tank in front of me. Not the bag's fault, the concept of a tank bag was better in theory than reality. Secondly, the bag requires the application of adhesive velcro to the tank. This isn't mentioned in the product description and I did not want to glue velcro to my tank. The sales and return process went smoothly. The bag is very well made.

On 2011 R1200RT

Reviewed by Philippe Sommer from Charlottesville, va (12.23.2011)

This is a great bag, but I do not feel it fits well enough on the RT. The front of the bag does push against the handlebars e.g. why there is a horn protector, though not an issue on the 2011! If there were a way of setting the bag further back it would help, but the fixation pad in the front has only one setting. Realy nicely made and detailed bag, but not a great fit on this bike.

Good quality tank bag.

Reviewed by Fred Anderson from Sandwich, MA (12.15.2011)

Ordered this bag for my 2012 BMW R1200R. If mounts easily and fits the tank curve well. Seems like it will meet my needs just fine. Also, it's narrow enough not to interfere with full steering lock. Two other comments: The rain cover seems to be of lower quality than the bag, but I haven't used it in the rain yet, so don't know how well it will work. The bag should come with a fabric connector strap with velcro at each end. That strap would hold the front and rear mounting points in place when the bag is removed from the bike. Placing velcro pads with sticky back tape on the tank is not my idea of an acceptable solution. A nylon strap would work more effectively and not damage the tank like the sticky tape.

Best Bag for the Money

Reviewed by John Shearer from Rome, NY (6.27.2011)

I have used tank bags for their convenience for years and have them on my other two bikes so when I bought a new motorcycle to add to my collection, I shopped around to see what new tank bags may be out there. I decided to get this one just before leaving on a several thousand mile putt. I am extremely plased with that decision. It is just the right size, attaches and detaches with ease. I did not buy the rain cover and although most of the first week of it's maiden ride, was spent in medium to heavy rain, nothing inside got wet. I did however, spray the outside with heavy duty waterproofing campdry, prior to the trip. The quality of the construction as well as the materials it is made of are top notch. I would recommend this bag to anyone desiring a quality tank bag at a resonable price.

Nice bag

Reviewed by BD Richmond from Richmond, VA (5.25.2011)

I ordered this bag because I wanted something compact to hold just a few things. The size is right for me and the materials look like they are high quality. One criticism is that the instructions came in German only and the pictures were not helpful (low quality, not intuitive). So, I had to translate the instructions into English and spend some time looking at things to figure out the installation process. To save you time, here they are with some additions by me: (German to English translation - thanks Google Translate) 1. Remove the driver's seat 2. The front mount has the brackets on it, the rear mount has only velcro. On the front mount, pass the straps from the bottom of the front mounting bracket through the frame number metal strip below the handlebars. Then pull them up and through the snap brackets and tighten the straps. 3. Now attach the Velcro strip in front of the gas tank lid and fasten the front bracket on it. This protects you while driving without a tank bag from the front mount fluttering. 4. Attach the rear mounting bracket to the sheet metal above the battery (the owners manual bracket) with the Velcro. The seat can now be reassembled. 5. In the front, snap the lock of the tank bag in the other pieces on the front fastener into place. The tank bag flips back for easy access to the gas tank, which is nice.

Urban Tour Tank Bag on 2010 RT

Reviewed by Carl McAloose from Orwigsburg, PA (10.12.2010)

Very high quality bag...easy installation that is verrry secure and easy to manipulate at fill-up. Takes about 5 minutes to install...looks good and just enough room for basic commute needs...doesn't get in the way at all. The horn protector that comes with it does not fit the 2010 model. Highly recommended!!!!
