raised the bars just enough to take some weight off of wrists and still allow some lean forward

Did exactly what I needed, eliminated that spot in my back that hurt after 1 hour.

Like some others, I found the installation instruction "pictographs" to be rather hard to decipher. Since the right brake caliper hydraulic line MUST be moved in order for the brake line to not be too short, it is imperative that the line be relocated like they show. However, figuring out how to do it is a bit puzzling until you take the brake line mount off and see that it's two pieces, not one. Then it's fairly easy. Also, if you look closely at the handlebar, you'll see that it has little crosses stamped on it to aid with re-aligning the bar in the clamps and the brake lever. The original positions seem OK for me at 5' 10". You may want to play with these a bit. You wouldn't think that 20mm would be all that much, but it does make a subtle difference that really doesn't show itself until you've ridden for about an hour or so. I've also got the Wunderlich air deflector on the top of my windshield, but I did not have to change anything with that even with the slightly different riding position. It appears that the 20mm rise is about the most you would be able to do with this bike, and not have to put longer brake lines, wires etc. Even with the brake line relocation, it still seems pretty tight with the bike on the center stand and the forks fully extended. So, is it worth it? Yes, I think in the long run you will notice subtle differences in fatigue level, neck strain, etc. Very nicely made product, and very high quality that should last the life of your bike. Just needs better instructions!!
