Side Stand Enlarger

Your R1200 has a particularly narrow side stand foot that will not offer confidence inspiring support. Your bike can really benefit from one of these side stand plates because asphalt or soft sand can cause an unsafe situation when parking on the side stand. This Wunderlich part solves the problem by increasing the surface area of your side stand foot. The serrations on the end provide added grip for your boot when deploying the stand. The part is designed to fit perfectly and be easy to install and that makes this accessory a sensible improvement for your BMW.

When installing, apply a drop or two of Loctite or similar thread locking fluid to the retaining screws to ensure that they do not loosen and fall out. (available under the Related Products)

Excellent stability improvement, but not quite "flat" on a hard surface

Already used to advantage parking my (new-to-me) R1200RT-LC on some soft ground. When on hard surface, the plate is not flat on ground - could use some angle to the plate's cross section. (BMW stock footplate, itself, is not completely parallel to the ground.) Nonetheless, that is not the condition where one is likely to really need an augmented footplate, and it still works fine.

Quality, instructions, order handling, shipping - all great. Installed enlarger does not sit flush on the ground when properly installed and the bike is at manufacturer's recommended tire pressures. Contact with the ground is at the "heel" area of the enlarger, while the outer part of the enlarger is off the ground. Don't expect this to improve with wear of the enlarger. Proper design would have the enlarger being wedge shaped with the outer part thicker than the heel.
