Wunderlich Folding Headlight Grill - GS 40 Year Edition, Yellow
Right on time for the launch of the 40 Years GS Edition BMW models “Edition 40 Years GS”, we’ve issued the matching Headlight protector their perfectly integrate in the color scheme of the “Edition 40 Years GS”. A stone that flies up and/or short off-road stretches often mean that the original headlights are finished. Rigidly mounted headlight grills or the original protecting screen can only be used legally off-road tracks, and the headlight glass behind is difficult to clean.
Our headlight protector protects the headlight in all circumstances and can simply be folded forwards when riding on the road or for cleaning purposes. A perfect protector that also protects against any small projectiles. The folding mechanism is particularly useful, as rain drops can cause unpleasant reflections and you run the risk of dazzling yourself. With the folding mechanism, the screen can be positioned just as you want it and in an emergency it can simply be folded away.

Both the printed instructions and the company's video instruction were not relevant to my bike, and it turns out the reason was because my bike came with the OEM Aux lights, which I believe is very common. Fortunately there's a third-party youtube video available that describes how to change the install, but it does require removing quite a bit of fairing.

I bought this headlight protective grill for my 2022 BMW R1250 GS Adventure after putting 10,000 miles+ this summer. As I am planning on riding to Portland, OR, then up to Anchorage, AK this coming May, I knew that I needed all the protection I could get for that $1,500.00 headlight! Yikes! It arrived shortly after ordering it and I took on the task of installing it. Well, the upper fasteners are a piece of cake. The lower fasteners are challenging as they are located inside the fairing/beak on either side of the headlamp. The bolt goes from the bottom up, which means you are twisted up looking upwards hoping the nuts have remained in place in the bracket. After a few failed attempts, I put some adhesive tape over the nuts to hold them in place while I finagled the brackets into place. That was the ticket! The grill is just a shade off the color yellow that my 40th edition is, but pretty close. The finish is a bit rough in places where the wire grill is tacked to the frame leaving a few rough edges on the wire. The openings in the grill will still allow 3/4” debris, rocks, or mud through to the headlight. I originally bought the headlamp protector as the description of it stated that it came with a Lexan piece as well, preventing any debris from getting to the headlight. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The protector is an either/or product. You can get the wire grill, or you can get the Lexan protector. Overall, the grill is made well enough and will take a hit from larger debris. It folds out of the way easily to clean the headlight lens. Some patience is needed to install it, but it’s pretty straightforward. Get comfortable, get a headlamp, and get a little tape to hold those nuts in place!

The Wunderlich Folding Headlight Grill provides the perfect Bad Boy accent to my 2021 R1250GS 40 Year Edition bike. It is a proper mixture of attitude and silliness.
