    Footpeg Lowering Kit

The original riding position of the GS is not equally comfortable for all riders. Tall riders have different requirements than small riders. The Wunderlich "Ergo" program of handle bar risers, seats and footrests, provides the components that allow each rider to "fine-tune" the riding position and posture to his or her own personal needs. This lowering set will move the rider's foot pegs down 40 mm (1-1/2"). The change in footrest position will increase the knee and hip angle, a benefit especially when touring. Better blood circulation and fewer cramps will make a full-to-empty tank ride much more enjoyable. The easy to install kit is made of silver anodized CNC machined high quality Aluminum and comes with all components needed, including the Boxer emblems for each side and clear installation instructions .

Please Note: Installing this or any foot peg lowering kit may cause reduced cornering clearance. Please ride accordingly.

    Perfect.....almost.

The lowering hardware is a 5+; they are very well made. I am 6'6" with a 36" inseam and my 2004 1150GS was just too compact when it came to the seat to peg distance. While the distance the pegs are lowered may not sound like a lot when reading the description, the difference is dramatic. Truly. From crotchrocket ergos to reading chair comfort, my seating position is much improved. HOWEVER, the shifting side adjustments have been a bit frustrating. First, I had to lower the shifting lever enough that it hits(contacts) my side stand when in first gear or when down-shifting. To have the lever adjusted any higher has me really having to kick my toe way up to shift effwctively. I'll continue messing with that issue. Second, the heel bar on my side stand prevented me from sliding my foot over and under the shift level, so I had to cut the heel bar off; I'll have a friend re-weld it onto a different section of the kick stand that doesn't interfere with my shifting. This, to me, was the most serious issue and one that may have a bit to do with the fact that my kick stand has a bit of play in it and, when retracted, sits a bit out and away from the bike. I see no way to reduce that play, so cutting off the heel bar seemed to be the only solution. Finally, the kick stand does hit the bracket on the way up; not a huge issue, really, and is again related to the fact there is a bit of play in the kick stand. It still tucks away without difficulty, so no worries there. This all might warrant a '3' , but any time you mess with factory ergos, you have to expect some minor issues. Nothing insurmountable, and in the end the effect achieved by the lowering kit is very much worth the problems I'll continue to tweak and adjust as I get use to the new position. My knees are very happy!
