THE DESIGN

FITS LIKE A GLOVE

Form follows function. Jekill & Hyde's motto when creating The Nomad for BMW GS Models. But this doesn't mean they've taken it easy. On the contrary - the result is something to be proud of and fits the R1250 GS and GSA like a glove. They chose a design that blends in perfectly with the design of the bike as a whole.

They do not only offer to choose between sounds options, the rider can also choose design options (which of course unlike the sound you cannot switch by pushing a button). The exhaust will be available in black and Pearl Grey. To complete the look they've developed a gloss carbon end cap with an aluminum core. This one of a kind end cap gives the exhaust a distinguished look, matching BMW's own 719 line, and makes it recognizable even when cases are mounted on the bike. As a finishing touch we provide an optional carbon heat shield on the header.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

TECHNOLOGY

The Nomad contains different electronic control units to ensure the best street legal sound and ultimate performance.

1. Modeswitch -The electronically controlled and adjustable system allows riders to open and close the exhaust valve with the push of a button mounted on the handlebar. The button is fully weather-resistant and flickers a red light when activated for your convenience.

2. Smartbox - The electronic control unit in our exhaust systems is the brain of our product. Thanks to its ability to read CAN bus signals coming from the motorcycle’s ECU, the Smartbox makes sure you will not end up on the wrong side of the law no matter what mode you select. By committing the system to the parameters set by EU legislation, the Smartbox will seamlessly and subtly intervene if necessary.

3. Servomotors - By pressing the modeswitch, the Smartbox will send a signal to the servomotors. These will react and position the valve in the required mode. Thanks to a dual-cable operation the servo motors can switch back and forth between the open Mr. Hyde mode and closed Dr. Jekill mode, or engage the 50% opened Dynamic mode. The servomotors are equipped with heavy duty cables and a 100% waterproof seal to ensure strong and durable adjusters.

4. The Valve -Reacting to the servomotors our patented valve system will be positioned in the required mode, giving you the sound mode you want.

The build quality is excellent and the sound quality is amazing. It's great to be able to toggle in-between modes depending on where you are riding. Dr. Jekill mode seems to be about the same volume as stock, and Mr. Hyde is nicely louder. Both modes sound much better than the stock exhaust and put a smile on my face. The installation process is straightforward and the instructions are clear. The most demanding part of the process is the cable routing, but that just takes a little patience.

I was looking for a deeper exhaust tone for my GS, and Jeff with Wunderlich America suggested this product, the Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde Nomad. Super fast shipping by Wunderlich America as usual, and it is very nicely packaged by the company. All parts separated, with clear, straightforward pictorial based directions. The fit and finish of all of the parts is impeccable, the best quality exhaust I have seen. I received excellent, expeditious technical support from Jeff and Eddie, with a few install questions I had. Install was very straightforward and took about 1.5 hours including bike reassembly . So now, when I start the bike, it’s in the Dr. Jekill mode, subdued and gentle. Once you hit the discreet placed button, Mr. Hyde is unleashed… with a very deep, throaty growl as the GS deserves. I highly recommend this product if your looking to have the ability to change your exhaust tone at the push of a button, all while remaining emissions compliant! Thanks Wunderlich America!

Expensive but worth it...

The fit &amp;amp; finish is the best I've seen for an exhaust system &amp;amp; presentation/packaging is also by far the best. The installation instructions have been dumbed down to pictures, so you can glance at it &amp;amp; fully understand how to install the entire exhaust in seconds. That said, I wished they'd include some written guides as well. Youtube video &amp;amp; audio files on the internet never recreate the true sound for exhaust systems, so inevitably you have to take a leap of faith to some degree when purchasing an exhaust system. So with my review, take it for what it is... I purchased this because I wanted to hear my exhaust note while riding &amp;amp; in traffic, I wanted others to hear my exhaust &amp;amp; I wanted to drown out the engine noises as well. Just as important, I wanted it quiet when I roll in to my neighborhood at night. This fits all my requirements, is easy to cycle thru the various modes, seamlessly integrates with the bike CAN system &amp;amp; doesn't effect the performance negatively. It's a win for me all the way around.
