Description
Mount, Re-Locator for OEM Navigator with Fixed Windscreen
Our
re-locating holder provides a remedy here: It positions the navigation
system optimally in terms of visibility and operator ergonomics in the
natural direction of view, which allows relaxed driving. This position
is above the TFT instrument cluster. This means that the driver always
has an eye on the road and the navigation system at the same time. This
arrangement has proven itself and provides noticeably more comfort when
driving, navigating and operating, thus avoiding premature fatigue and
increasing safety on the road.
The
relatively low positioning of the OEM navigation holder forces the
driver to lower his head if he wants to read or operate the navigation
system. The position means that the eyes must constantly focus between
the distance and the close range. This strains the eyes and causes
fatigue. The safety aspect should also not be underestimated, because
the driver is forced to take his eyes off the road regularly.
The holder can be positioned individually and is made of black powder-coated stainless steel.

Installation went fairly smoothly, but the spacers were double the length they needed to be. I cut them in half and it worked fine. A few more words in the instructions would help. Took about 45 minutes to install. You have to remove the cable ties and reattach them to the other two cables. MUCH safer location now.

Wunderlich needs to provide an installation video for the F850GS - or every compatible BMW. The instructions provided are adequate, but still leave questions. For one, the spacers provided appear too long for the length of mounting bolts but no explanation or video to compare. With the spacers, the mounting bolts would not reach through the spacers and the screen base to thread to the bike. I ended up not using the spacers. From what I can assess, the spacers would need to be approximately half the length to fit with the bolts. I ended up not using the spacers at all and did my best to make the application even and secure. The result is still great. The functional design and location of the GPS is perfect and it is a very sturdy platform. I’ve reached out to customer service for an explanation of the spacers and have not yet received a response.
