Ohlins Mechatronic Shock Absorber set for R1200 GS Adventure with ESA

The BMW ESA system is a fantastic and revolutionary concept. Unfortunately however, the actual shock absorber units are not everything that they could be. With the Ohlins Mechatronics system, you can have a world-class suspension and still retain all of the benefits of ESA. With this system, Ohlins has taken something good and made it vastly better.

The Mechatronics set consists of a TTX36 shock absorber at the front and a newly developed TTX39 at the rear. These are controlled by an Ohlins ECU that is easily installed and compatible with the original ESA. It interacts directly with the BMW R1200 GS CAN bus network and existing user interface. The system is controlled by the existing ESA control buttons and dash display. The system offers significantly improved tire feeling and ride comfort. It has added benefits such as compression and rebound damping adjusters both front and rear. It operates within the same driving modes as the original system but with the added feature of a smart semi-active EC function in comfort mode where the damping levels are automatically increased with speed.

    The facts

    • MotoGP and WSBK based race winning technology
    • Smart semi-active EC functions
    • Operated by the standard ESA control buttons and standard display
    • Easily installed
    • High end racing looks
    • Full maintenance capability and with spare parts available
    • Consumes less power than the standard ESA system
    • Different spring rates available
    • New valves developed by Ohlins R&D
    • Damping adjusters compression and rebound front and rear
    • Sold as a complete set of front and rear shocks, with all needed components
    • Available for the BMW R1200 GS Adventure models with the factory installed ESA System
    • Made in Sweden

The Ohlins modular construction system makes it possible to completely disassemble the shock for routine servicing and repairs. Should servicing become necessary, you will have like new performance restored and for this reason, the shock will certainly last for the lifetime of the motorcycle.

Only to use together with Dashboard BM3500701 for 2006-2008 models which is not part of the kit and has to be ordered separately.

We got with Ohlins and we are putting on a BMW Group Buy. This will last for two weeks only.
15% off Retail. All sales will ship Free directly from Ohlins USA with the correct springs installed at the end of the two week period. This Sale begins at Midnight, March 27,2020 and ends at 11:59 PM on April 10th.

    Mechatronic on 2012 R1200GSA
I put a mechatronic system on a 2012 R1200GSA. Really excellent, transformative-to-the-bike suspension system. I keep it in the adaptive mode almost always and it is amazing in all conditions. I have not done jumps and whoops PD style stuff, but highways, twisty poor pavement back roads, dirt, sand and gravel, dual track, rocks, 5-10” stream crossings, steep up and down rocky washout trail etc. all that is super good. Highway and street riding to-from becomes just magic in adaptive mode. I wish they had a lowering link kit or a shorter version but this is some truly excellent suspension technology. Fairly serious job to install, not simple, instructions are- well - basically not good instructions at all. Discouragingly bad instructions. But ... have it done professionally by someone with suspension experience and you will be super happy I think. No regrets, I’m a big fan of mechatronic and the GSA 1200 oilhead bike application.
