Great idea, hard to mount
These carriers are well-crafted and, *when installed*, provide both protection and support for bags and other accessories. The key words are "when installed". The installation instructions don't give any tips for practical installation; in fact, they hardly give any instruction at all. I first tried to install everything from the outside of the tank guard bar, and failed miserably. I simply didn't have enough room to get everything to fit.
The clips are a particular problem. They're made of spring steel, which resists any attempt to keep them formed around the bar. I don't understand why Wunderlich chose to make them this way. It's a poor choice.
Since I'm used to doing complex work on my bike, I chose to go in the other direction. I pulled the bodywork and gas tank off my bike and installed everything from the *inside* of the tank guards. Total time doing it this way, including disassembly, installing carriers, and re-assembly, was 1/2 the time I spent trying to do 2 clamps on one carrier from the outside.
The carriers themselves are great. I'm using them with Givi engine guard bags to give me a bombproof and flexible front pannier system.
