Center Stand
The center stand is an excellent addition to any motorcycle, which, unfortunately is no longer part of the standard equipment. Since only a middle or center stand ensures a secure footing, we have designed (for ease of elevating the machine better leverage on the boom) our main stand for retrofitting a stable and user-friendly tool. Indispensable for maintenance work (lubrication chain, oil change, oil level control), care, and above all also for level-loading of the machine. Simple installation, delivery including all mounting hardware.

Call me old-fashioned, but what happened to the trusty center stand on the newer bikes?
I’ve always appreciated a center stand on a bike. It’s not just about convenience—it just feels more stable to me. Not saying that they’re the panacea for keeping everything two wheels upright. I remember my old 1990 BMW K1 in a parking lot with soft ground; yes, it tipped over on the center stand, though it could’ve fallen on a side stand just as easily. Still, I prefer the added stability of dual contact points.
Fast forward to last summer, I picked up a beautiful, low-mileage 2020 BMW R nineT /5. A heritage model, it’s packed with features, but—surprise—it didn’t have a center stand.
Luckily, Wunderlich America came to the rescue with a sleek, well-designed center sand kit (photo here) that looked factory-installed.
When we visited William at Wunderlich last fall, during our trip and training at BMW U.S. Rider Academy, I saw the same /5 in their showroom with the wonderful center stand installed, looking both functional and unobtrusive, and I was hooked. The decision was made.
Back in Maine, I ordered the kit, but didn’t get around to installing it right away because of other projects. Finally, on New Year’s Day, I set aside time to install it. The process took about 90 minutes. I was careful, humoring myself learning German instructions along the way, by the way, “hulse” means “spacer”. I think.
The construction is top-notch as you’d expect from a premium German product. Everything, from the cut of the metal, to the power costing was beautiful, welds very shaply done, hardware was top-notch, and the instructions were clear. The trickiest part was installing the dual retraction springs, but I managed to do that surprisingly easily with the supplied tool.
Over the years, we've added Wunderlich stands and protective bars to several of our bikes, like Kathi’s G310R and the recent GS.
As a rule, I usually stick to factory or OEM parts, but Wunderlich’s kit is exceptional, the same or better quality, and really the crowning touch on the bike. And they’ve been fantastic to work with whenever I had questions. This upgrade wasn’t just functional; it’s a proud addition to my bike, combining quality, style, and peace of mind.
Take a look at the photos below, and I think you'll agree.
Cheers,
Bruce

I am happy with the purchase. Fit & finish are well done. Would have preferred Torx bolts to match the rest of the bike. There were 7 washers in my order. I added extra in a few places. Had to chase the threads in the cross bar as the powder coat wouldn't allow the bolts to thread, used copper slip because of the bare metal. I wrote a review with pictures here: https://www.ninetowners.com/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-r-ninet-today.102098/post-1153507.
There is also another post that others share their experience here: https://www.ninetowners.com/threads/central-stand-for-bmw-r-ninet-family.141739/#post-1049719
One concern I am interested in watching is if the powder coat lasts or not on the bottom cross bar. If it looks to be getting damaged by road debris, I may install a rubber strip.

2017 BMW R9T Pure The stand is nice, but I expected it to be more finished, and the fit to be correct. I had to tap all the nuts, they would not properly thread on the bolts, and the flange on the nut would not install on one of the bolts, as the flange was rubbing against a frame weld, I hope a nut without a flange will work, but I have not had time to purchase one. Considering how much I paid for the center stand, I expected better quality, it does work, so I give it 4 Stars. Hope this helps y'all.
