The original BMW engine protection bar is capable of withstanding impact but will not protect the heads and cylinders from thrown up road debris or protruding rocks in the worst case scenario.

I'd recommend taking of the crash bars to install these especially if you get the other guards for the cylinder heads. Fit great and have a good finish to them. I've already spotted marks from debris hitting it so i know its worth every penny. But that the the engine so i would say this is a must buy!
