    Description

    Ergo Standard Seat, Active Comfort

The new generation of ERGO Seats: Well-thought through at every step of the design, with many innovative solutions. The original seat suffers from an unfavorable shape which places undue strain on the tailbone, and the angle of the seat leads many riders to adopt a bad pelvic position. To counter this we use a foam core with completely new contours and a unique fabric, developed with great care and at no small expense. This seat is roughly the same height as the standard R1200 GS seat, but far superior in terms of shape, support and materials. It is about an inch lower than the stock R1200 GS Adventure seat.

    Details

    • • Distinctly shaped (concave) seating area.
    • • Relief of pressure on the tail bone and optimized weight distribution across the whole seat.
    • • Progressive double-layer construction with soft upper layer and rigid core for even distribution of forces.
    • • Non-slip, anti-perspiration material combined with "Alcantara" suede seams.
    • • Strong "RoburC" seat pan of our own construction.
    • • Protected document compartment underneath rider seat.
    • • Classy recessed "cut" seams.
    • • Seams glued and heat-sealed on modern PFAFF hot-air welding machines for 100% impermeability.
    • • Made in Germany.

NOTE: This is the Rider seat only. The passenger seat is sold separately. To order a passenger seat, please see the link under the Related Products tab.

It is winter here in the North East so today was the first chance to try out the new seats (Jan.12,2014) I received for Christmas. The quality, and look of the seats is outstanding. I am 5'10" and ride the R1200GS, 2005,it is still a reach to the ground with the sear in the low position. They are a touch wide which spreads your legs some. I am hoping they will break in over time. As for riding comfort and feel very good. Good support and position. And the seat definitely establishes that position! Wunderlich should supply new rubber straps for the seat rods mine were toast a long time ago. What ever the extra cost it would be worth it. Last but not least I think these seats are pricy and Wunderlich could do better on that. The passenger seat fit is also flawless, and sharp looking.
    Great Purchase

The quality of this saddle is more what I would expect in a Bently than on my 7 year old bike. Wunderlich products always show a quality construct but this one is over the top. Fit was perfect. Comfort is great - I needed no time to get used to it. However I was replacing a completely worn out OEM saddle. A fair bit wider seat pan gives it the effect of being taller. I truly regret not having upgraded to this saddle years ago.
    TOTALLY worth it

It took a bit of fiddling to get the seat to fit when the bars were in the low setting, but I believe the issue was more with the fiddly latch mechanism on the bike rather than with any issue with this seat. But once fitted, this seat is fantastic. It totally remedies the "riding on a fence post" position of the stock seat on my Adventure. This seat is quite firm (hard), but I think with miles it will break in, as a soft-right-out-of-the-box seat would likely get way too soft over time. I read in the other review a gripe about the fit of the seat on the bike, but I didn't have any issue with that at all once I got the seat latched in, with the bars in the low position. So while expensive, this is totally worth it because it completely remedies the make ergo issue I was having w/ my bike. 5 stars. And FYI, the stock passenger/pillion seat will still fit when this new Ergo seat is fitted.

Quality and appearance are very good. If it fit on the bike at the angle it is shown on the webpage I'm sure it would be more comfortable. Alas, it does not sit on the bike as shown. Overall comfort may be slightly better than stock, but lacks the suspension of the stock GSA seat, and sits one a tad lower than stock. (translation: It's OK). If I knew at the time I ordered it what I know now, I probably would not have spent the money.
    Top quality

Superb quality - better than OEM. Simple transfer of adjustable bars under seat. Easy installation. A firm, but more comfortable long-haul ride.
