Eliminates forward slide, looks great, not a road sofa
The stock seat on the 20+ BMW S1000XR is a challenge because, on the one hand it places you in an engaged riding position, but on the other hand it slides you into the tank. With practice, you can hold yourself back with your feet on the pegs so that you don't get squeezed against the tank, but it's never comfortable.
The Aktivekomfort seat eliminates that forward slide, but without making you less engaged with the bike. That alone is remarkable.
But it's also very well designed. An excellent quality, grippy material, with nice stitching. Makes the bike look even better.
The seat is not plush like a typical touring seat. If you find yourself slogging it on the Interstate, after a few hours your butt will get uncomfortable, though never painful. I thought about giving it 4 stars for that reason, but the XR is not a plush touring bike, so that wouldn't have made sense.
Gotta judge the seat by what it was designed to do. So, for what it is and what it does, it gets 5 stars.
