Wunderlich Oil Level Sensor Guard, Black
The oil level sensor guard redirects forces from the engine guard to the oil sump over the widest possible area – ensuring the sensor is fully protected
The oil level sensor, which extends from the bottom of the engine sump on the BMW R 1300 GS and GS Adventure, is particularly exposed during off-road use. When riding over ramps or impacts, the engine guard may flex and press against this sensitive component. Since the sensor is made of plastic, it cannot withstand such force.
To prevent this, forces must be transferred from the engine guard directly to the oil sump over the widest possible area. That is precisely what our oil level sensor guard does: it creates a secure chamber around the sensor and isolates it from mechanical stress. The result: the sensor is well protected, and the risk of damage and breakdown is significantly reduced.
This guard is compatible with both the Wunderlich and BMW OEM engine guards. Installation uses existing mounting points – one via direct bolting and one using a spring steel bracket.
The cable channel features a small drainage opening to evacuate splash or standing water, such as after water crossings.
The rubber is shaped and vulcanized onto the steel plate under heat and pressure, providing excellent vibration damping due to its Shore-specific hardness.

Function and Product Features
- The oil level sensor protruding from the bottom of the oil sump on the BMW R 1300 GS and GS Adventure is at risk during off-road riding
- When crossing a ramp or bottoming out, the engine guard can flex and exert pressure on the sensor
- The sensor, being made of plastic, is not designed to handle these forces
- If it breaks, engine oil may leak from the sump, potentially damaging the engine and the environment
- These forces must be redirected from the engine guard to the oil sump directly and across a wide surface
- The oil level sensor guard performs this task by creating a protective chamber around the sensor
- Benefits: Protects the sensor, reduces risk of breakdown
- Compatibility: Wunderlich and OEM skid plates
- Mounting: existing mounting points with form-fit, direct bolt-on plus spring steel bracket attachment
- Sensor cable channel with opening for draining splash water or water collected during water crossings
- Rubber is vulcanized onto the metal plate under heat and pressure
- Rubber hardness is precisely selected (Shore rating) for optimal vibration damping
- Easy installation using included mounting hardware
- Features Wunderlich brand logo
- Material: Composite of stainless steel and damping rubber (EPDM)
- Color: Black
- Original Wunderlich product – functionally integrated
- Sustainable product
- Design protected by utility model
