I debated at length over going with BMW or these side cases for my 2026 R1300RS. The cost of the BMW cases is much higher and you do get a USB port and lighting. However, the BMW cases are both more bulbous and heavier, but with similar capacity. I went with the Wunderlich cases due to the value proposition and what I think is a more svelte appearance. You do have to install the X Racks on either side, which are small tubular racks that bolt to the mounting points for the OEM case side racks. So you remove 2 bolts per side and replace with those contained in the kit. The third support point is the passenger footage frame just like BMW employs for their cases. Extremely easy - a little threadlock fluid and torque to 19Nm. 5 minutes per side. With the cases off the racks blend in with the bike's lines, so they aren't hideously ugly like a few others are. The cases are "vario" cases, so they can expand in volume enough to accommodate a full face helmet. I use an Arai Contour-X, a Shoei GT Air 3 and an Arai XD-5. They all fit. There is a nice cargo net inside and you can also buy made-to-fit bags for them that makes loading simple. The mounting and de-mounting process is dirt simple - press the lock button on top, lift the handle, then the release lever. Very fast, very easy. Once mounted they are very secure - no rattling, no moving around. I got the carbon fiber look which is a good match for my Option 719 Brooklyn grey color scheme. The quality is excellent - solid plastics for the cases, well assembled, solid lock and latch mechanisms and great rubber sealing gaskets. Final great point is the locks are codeable to your bike key - it's not an intuitive process but I did it in about 20 minutes with the instructions on-line. Overall just fantastic side cases at about a $1000 savings over OEM. Highly recommended!
