Oil Cooler Guard

The oil cooler of the K1600 GT, GTL, Bagger and Grand America is well positioned for the onrushing air stream, unfortunately, the result of this is that anything carried by this stream finds its way into the cooler. Stones, insects and grime fill up the delicate fins of the cooler and cannot be removed without extensive labor, and usually the cooler fins bend and never look the same again.

This cooler guard uses a finely meshed grill that ensures the cooling properties remain unaffected. The size of the opening between the wires is 5mm square (3/16") and the grill is precision welded to the steel fame at several points. The entire assembly is powder coated and it will resist chips and remain in great conditions for many thousands of miles.

Had avoided is product for years, seemed too expensive. After a trip out west this summer, noticed two substantial hits on the oil cooler. Dented the fins but didn't penetrate. I was lucky. Bought the cooler guard right away. Went on easy, videos helped a lot, and looks great. Still expensive, for what it is, but cheaper than a tow and new cooler.

This Oil Cooler Guard is a must especially if you live in a dusty dry climate. At least twice a month, I would have to pick out the tones, insects, etc. that would get lodged in the cooler fins. After 10k miles the fins start to distort and they have to be repainted for cosmetic purposes. In addition the guard fills the gap below the fairing rather nicely. It is definitely a quality accessory to your GT and it�s any easy install. Thank You Wunderlich!

A bit tricky to install as the instructuions are not very clear but you will figure it out with some dexterity. it will probably protect from both bugs and stonese from sticking and/or damaging the oil cooler fins. looks nice. Pricey for what it is but I guess witha K1600GTL it comes with that premium for protection.
