What BMW created with the R1200 CL is a unique and special looking custom bike.
The massive chromed "Renegade" crash bars not only protects the bike in case of a fall (which we "tested" ourselves - engine protection bar suffered scuffed chrome, rider's ego dented but the bike itself was fine), but they also fit very well with the "Custom" style of the bike. And in true freeway cruising style, the rider can rest his feet on the tubes. Made of massive 38 mm steel tubes with a top quality chrome finish. Very well made and exact, easy fitting. Removal of cylinder covers still possible. Service can be performed with the bars fitted.

I installed the crash bars in no time. Since I'm native German I had absolutely no problems reading the instruction, but it might be a good idea to add an English translation for custerms who aren't able to read German. The bars are made really good and the installation is really easy. It makes the bike look great. The only little problem I see in the future is to adjust the valves on the left cylinder, it looks like I have to remove the bar to get to the valves on the left of my R1200 CLC , because the bar covers the front of the left cylinder head. but that shouldn't be a big deal either.

Fantastic Engine Guard, beefy bar, excellent look. Wonderful service from Wunderlich. IMPORTANT: When mounting - the 'notch' in the mounting brackets goes forward and down, not facing rear-ward. Originally mounted wrong and had to re-do the whole thing. Mounting them forward and down makes a quick and easy install!

Totally satisfied fit was fine and easy to install. A 1/4" larger in diameter than American bars. Should protect the jugs perfectly. See you the next time I need something for the bike.

guards seem very sturdy and will centainly protect heads. the 2 brackets need to be clearly marked as they are specific left and right side

First, the bar is nicely made, fits just right and appears sturdy. It looks really good on the motorcycle- much better than OEM or other option IMO. The price is better too. The instructions are in German and the pictures are xeroxes or xeroxes. This was pretty simple, so ok I guess. Something complicated could get interesting. The most important comment here was Wunderlich's business practice, which turned out to be commendable. The site had the bar in stock, ready to ship. Upon ordering, I found out it was back ordered for weeks. Recheck of the site still had it in stock. Situation was I needed the bar quickly or didn't need it at all and I wrote customer service an email telling them the site was wrong and was going to cancel. The representative, William Plam, was gracious and effective. He got the site corrected, found the bar in Germany, had it sent to the US and shipped it to me priority at no extra charge. It arrived fully complete the day before I needed it and I put it on. So it was the rare case where, when something goes wrong, a sales rep goes out of their way to actually fix it. I was very impressed. The company makes good stuff and seems to work every purchase like it's important. So, for what its worth, when I need moto things, I'll try here first now.
