Topcase Rack

Installed the rack recently. Eddie from Wunderlich was available to provide some additional tips. I did use a mm ruler, but probably to get even more precise, a caliper would have been better. I added a small strip of padding between the center part of the rack and the top case just in case the the rack were to touch the top case. Haven't yet ridden with the rack due to the rain, but will be shortly. Quality is great. Probably should have done this a while ago on my 2022 K1600 Grand America.

2022 K1600GTL and it fits perfectly. While frightening to install, it is very straight forward. The installation on the website is very helpful. While small... Every little bit helps. Delivered in a timely fashion and in perfect condition.

The product looks great. For the Grand America, there are 4 flat spots on the under side of the lid that fit the 4 posts almost perfect. Here is a case where when placing the rack get it close to the flat spots, then drill a small pilot hole in the center of one of the flat spots to make sure it is located properly for the remaining 3 holes. I was able to get it fairly close. So, I am adding one really small pilot hole, 1/16” bit, and then follow the directions. Use 1/8” pilot followed by 1/4” final hole. Remove only enough tape to place the black washer on the top. I used locktite blue, and only snugged the bolts to slightly compress the bottom washer rubber coating for water seal. That was really the only thing that I was slightly uncomfortable about, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, let the locktite do the work. Most BMW owners are a bit overprotective on torque, because most installs provide the torque value. I love the product, using for a small bag with easy access, the bag has Velcro closures, not plastic hooks. Saw same complaints on using plastic hooks. Will store rain gear and small items only.
