Talked to the parts guy and he was very helpful, checked to see if I ordered the right part and that their parts listing is correct. I had 3/8 " space on both sides after tightening the acorn nuts. Rather than return the item (Wunderlich offered to refund my money :) ), I went to the hardware store and got some lock washers and extra nuts so that the axle slider would tighten down. Simple fix but Wunderlich definitely needs to take a closer look at the specs for this part and the bike it is supposed to fit. Got the same one for my R 1250 GS and it fit correctly without modding.
