These bars are higher and farther back, and they have relieved the pain on my wrists and shoulders from riding >2 hours.

I bought a clean, low-miles 2016 R1200RS earlier this year that came equipped with HeliBars risers. The setup was definitely better than stock but not comfortable enough for my short arm reach and old boomer back. After months of consideration and trying to tweak the Helibars setup with extra spacers and washers to raise the height, I finally ponied up for the Wunderlich handlebar conversion kit (silver finish). After installation (more on that) and a test ride, I've concluded it's a bit like getting another BMW bike for less than $500. The bars not only sweep back at the right angle, they also provide extra leverage while riding at slow turning speeds, and also while man-handling the bike in my garage. I've owned a couple of R1200RT bikes, and while it's not quite as comfy as an RT, it comes close. If (or when) I add Wunderlich barbacks to the conversion, it will be even more comfortable. While I'm no expert motorcycle mechanic, I'm reasonably confident with wrenches and have a knack for hacking mechanical challenges. It took me hours to complete the conversion for several reasons: The Wunderlich installation guide is mostly pictorial with a mix of German and bits of English. Mounting the bars was actually relatively easy and intuitive. The hard part was removing and reinstalling the left and right side switch controls -- and I had to make a run to Harbor Freight for a set of extra-small torx bits. Thanks to my current Haynes manual and some deep Google searches, I found enough information to figure out how to remove the switches, unplug electrical cables and reinstall everything on the wider Wunderlich bars. There is no need to detach the clutch fluid line and reroute it. Instead, remove all of the stock rubberized wire/fluid line ties and move the clutch line outside of the stock cable retainer (looks like a giant paper clip : ). DO NOT try to open the left side switch housing, held together with two small star (torx) screws -- you might ruin it. On the left side, you can find the handlebar bolt by gentling folding back the edge of the rubber grip. The right (brake) side is a little more complicated, requiring the removal of a plastic panel and two tiny screws (requiring a T8 torx bit). Someone mechanically smarter than me could write detailed instructions for removing and reinstalling the left/right control switches, which could save future customers time and anguish. Back to the handlebars: the fit and finish are outstanding. Well worth the investment, and I think this conversion will pay dividends in comfort and enjoyment for years to come. Wunderlich USA -- thank you!
