    Wunderlich Engine Bars, Black

Effective all around protection for the F 800 GT!

    The facts:

    • Protection for the F800 GT fairing
    • Uniform distribution of forces.
    • Attaches at 6 strong mounting points.
    • Left and right sides are connected for structural integrity.
    • Elaborately bent round tubes.
    • Does not compromise ground and cornering clearance.
    • Powder-coated steel tubing 22mm outside diameter.
    • Easy to install.
    • Exclusive Wunderlich Design
    • Made in Germany.

Installation requires that a small recess is cut into the inner panels on the left and right sides. No modification to the outer fairing (painted parts) is required.

    Harder than expected
In hindsight I should have read these reviews before starting to install the guard. The first thing that they should tell you is that you need to cut away the inner fairing on both sides to access the mounting holes. Also it is much easier with 2 people to achieve better alignment and not scratch the fairing paint. Third, it is impossible to tighten the lower bolt with a torque wrench because the guard is in the way of achieving a straight angle to the bolt. That being said I did complete the job by myself. My only concern is the right side mounting bracket rubbing against the radiator hose so I will install a heavier pad there.

Good Product. Challenging Install. Poor Instructions
The installation instructions do not fully reflect the fairing modifications that are needed. Aligning the lower mounting points to properly thread the bolt into the engine is a difficult process that benefits from a lift and a second person. It is better to thread the lower mount first then attach the top mount (instructions for single person installation suggest the reverse). Otherwise a great product once installed

    Putting them on yourself
My friend and i put these bars on today which was a learning experience. The directions that come with it don't tell you that you have to modify your right and left inner fairings inorder to bolt on the triangluar piece that the bars attach to. So inorder to do this yourself either have a drill to make holes in your fairing or a rasp to get the job done. I called our local ship and they charge $253.00 to put protection bars on a GS but have never put these on so expect probably $300.00. It wasn't hard to do but did take a little time to do it since this was our first time doing it.
